Appointment & Renewal Letters

The initial letter of appointment from the Provost is issued upon acceptance of the offer to join the College faculty. The letter states the rank or title, salary, beginning and ending dates of the contract period, the previous years of experience, if any, applied toward tenure at the College, and provisions, if any, for reimbursement of moving expenses. A time limit of one (1) week is ordinarily given to the applicant to accept or decline the offer.

Letters of renewal for faculty are issued by the Provost during the first week of March. The letter states the rank or title, salary, beginning and ending dates of the contract period, and the tenure status of the faculty member, along with any matters specific to an individual appointment (e.g. chair assignment, sabbatical, etc.).
