Faculty Resignation

Resignation is the termination of services by voluntary action of the faculty member. If a member of the faculty desires to terminate an existing appointment or to decline a renewal, that member is to give notice in writing as early as possible but no later than April 15. Such notification is to be given to both the Department Chair and the Provost. Faculty members may properly request a waiver of this requirement in cases of hardship or situations where they would otherwise be denied substantial professional advancement.

NEGOTIATED RESIGNATION

Resignation may be negotiated by the College. In these instances, the College takes the initiative, offering faculty the choice of resigning, in lieu of dismissal, in order to protect professional reputation and status.
