President's Committees

Here are a list of committees that function at the behest of the President:

Academic Affairs Council — The Academic Affairs Council advises on academic matters, including policy, programs, budget and personnel. Responsibilities include approving guidelines for the operation of its standing committees; receiving and reviewing proposals from its standing committees; acting on proposals submitted by Faculty Assembly; proposing to the Board of Trustees procedures for the search for a President; advising the President on the procedures in the search for a Provost; and providing consent to recipients of the following honors and awards: graduation speaker, honorary degree recipient(s), Spes Unica Award, Maria Pieta Award.

Budget Committee — The Budget Committee advises on the development of budgetary policies, processes, and timelines; receives and reviews budget proposals from departments and/or program areas; recommends funding priorities; reviews and recommends the overall College budget, submitting the budget to the President for presentation to the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Budget Committee.

Governance Manual Committee — The committee develops procedures for the orderly review and revision of the Governance Manual. It receives and reviews new proposals and proposed revisions to the Governance Manual and advises the President as to whether proper processes were followed. It maintains the Governance Manual in current and operational form on a yearly basis. It oversees compatibility between the Governance Manual and other College handbooks to insure consistency with the Governance Manual.

President’s Council on Inclusivity and Multicultural Diversity (PCIMD) — PCIMD is an advisory team responsible for developing, overseeing and monitoring College-wide efforts to achieve Saint Mary’s commitment to inclusivity and multicultural diversity as core institutional and educational values. Staff Advisory Council — The Staff Advisory Council is an advisory body comprised of exempt and non-exempt staff from across the College who participate in monthly meetings. The Council works to strengthen the lines of communication with the people who make the College work on a daily basis, helping Saint Mary’s achieve its organizational goal of enhancing its shared governance. The Council is instrumental in supporting collaboration, strengthening awareness of important campus issues, and providing all members of the Saint Mary’s community with an opportunity to offer input into the future of the College.

Strategic Budget Advisory Council — The Council, in consultation and dialogue with the President and Provost, supports and enhances the success of the College through thoughtful and informed advice relating to: long-term planning, assessment of institutional priorities, review of budgetary policies and the evaluation of programs and services. The Council provides advice on budget policies, significant budgetary actions and institutional priorities. The Council also works to evaluate the effectiveness of plans and policies, and develops guidelines for setting budgeting priorities.
